Every now and then, I enjoy a good, overly long essay from FilmCritHulk. Yesterday, for example, I waffled in and out of an interview said Hulk did with Hope Larson, a graphic novelist I have never heard of before, who is releasing an adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time this autumn. Because he’s a thorough Hulk, he wended his way through her oeuvre, beginning with Salamander Dream, which sounds lovely. Thus it was that I wandered down to my local bookstore to see about ordering that book, along with Catherynne Valente’s The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland and Led the Revels There, which is due out next Tuesday (exciting!).
For obvious reasons, Valente’s book wasn’t on the shelf. Sadly, neither was Larson’s. In fact, Salamander Dream seems to be out of stock permanently. Grump.
But ‘M’ is next to ‘L’ and lo, there I discovered Linda Medley’s Castle Waiting, which looks kind of delightful at first blush. Has anyone else read this?
