Weekend Links, 15 June 2013
Okay, how can it possibly be mid-June already?
I feel remiss in not mentioning this before, but there are some serious protests going on in Turkey. There are a million stories about it, but it’s still easy for something this big to fly under the radar. Click the photo for more stills.

There’s no segue out of this subject, so I’m not going to even try. I’m simply going to go for interesting and beautiful – not to take my mind off of what’s happening there or to inoculate against it so much as a reminder that the world is a lousy place that still manages to hold beauty.
From “interesting,” this map of California demonstrating which parts of the state can be used in films for which locations around the world.
The picture I used here comes from Ambrosia Voyeur’s Flickr stream.
Lastly, from the always interesting Colossal, some really incredible examples of origami by artist Nguyen Hung Cuong.
The artist’s Flickr stream is here, including a “making of” series with an eagle and several diagrams showing the folds that are necessary to make the figures. Insanely complicated.
